General

What is this extension?

Powerpack for NotebookLM is a browser extension that adds shortcuts for importing content into Google NotebookLM. It does not modify NotebookLM itself; it just reduces the number of steps to add sources.

Is this an official Google product?

No. This is an independent project not affiliated with Google.

Is it free?

Yes. The extension is free to use. If you find it useful and want to support development, you can buy us a coffee on Ko-fi.

What browsers are supported?

Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc, etc.) that support Manifest V3 extensions.

Usage

Why does the extension need so many permissions?

See the Privacy page for a detailed explanation of each permission and why it is required.

Why do I need to log in to NotebookLM first?

The extension needs an authentication token that is only available when you have an active NotebookLM session. If the extension cannot connect, logging in to NotebookLM in a browser tab usually resolves the issue.

Can I import private or paywalled content?

The extension only sends URLs to NotebookLM. Whether NotebookLM can access and process that content depends on NotebookLM's own capabilities, not this extension.

Why did my import fail?

Possible reasons:

  • NotebookLM session expired — open NotebookLM and retry
  • NotebookLM rate limit — wait a moment and retry
  • URL not supported by NotebookLM
  • Network or server issues

How do I download audio overviews?

In the Notebooks view, if a notebook has an audio overview, you will see a download button. Click it to download the audio file (M4A format).

Privacy and security

Does the extension collect my data?

No. The extension does not send any data to third-party servers. All interactions are between your browser and NotebookLM directly. See the Privacy page for details.

Where is my authentication token stored?

In your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). It is never sent anywhere except to NotebookLM.

Where can I report issues or give feedback?

You can report issues or suggest features on the GitHub repository.

Technical

Does the extension work offline?

No. It requires an internet connection to communicate with NotebookLM.
